Snerched from [livejournal.com profile] alyse. (As if my plate is not full enough already.)  Be aware it may be the summertime before I can actually write any of this.  :-(  Sorry.  I will do it though, I don't want my summer to be dull and boring after all.  :-D

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble/ficlet of any pairing/character of their choosing*. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.  (You may include a prompt if you are so inclined.)

* Pairings I write, obviously. You can chance your arm if you like, but if it's something I don't watch/ship/write, you may be out of luck.

"Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy."  --The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Narnia sort of bookends my life, because I not only love the quote that opens it, I love the quote that ends it so much so, that when I die, I want it on my gravestone:

"The term is over: the holidays have begun.  The dream is ended: this is the morning.

And as he spoke, he no longer looked to them like a lion; but the things that began to happen after that were so great and beautiful that I cannot write them.  And for us this is the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after.  But for them it was only the beginning of the real story.  All of their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before."  --End of The Last Battle

GUH!  Makes me all teary-eyed every time I read it.

Also, because I can't resist any of Tolkien:

"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.  Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."  --The Hobbit

"The Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."  --The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

The idea behind a meme is that you copy the questions and post your own answers to your journal. My friend [livejournal.com profile] prehistoriccat is in a bit of a fic slump, so we thought it would be nice to tell her why we love her so much and why she's one of our favorite authors. :-) By all means, feel free to join in if you know and love [livejournal.com profile] prehistoriccat's fics!  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] casy_dee and [livejournal.com profile] evenstar_estel  for posting their mem's also.

SORRY THIS IS SO LATE CAT! :-)

1. What is your favorite fic written by PrehistoricCat?

Bloodlines, Misunderstandings, Only Man on Earth, Achilles Heel, Revenge of the Geek, Our Place, Seven Days, All in the Mind, St Valentine’s Day Massacre, Two, David, The Award (such an amazingly poignant story and a fitting Tribute for Professor Cutter), and (second only to Bloodlines) Couvade Syndrome. There are sooooooo many more fics I would love to mention here, but clearly I have to limit it. (Which I am apparently failing at. LOL)

2. Why is it your favorite?

Gah! So hard… (That’s what she said! LOL! Sorry) Bloodlines was so well written and well told and the ending was so rewarding. Fantastic. I loved Only Man on Earth because it was so perfectly Connor. Achilles Heel was great because I totally love a good Kidnap story, and Revenge of the geek was just so perfect. So much Connor angst, and then Connor WIN!

I have to say that Couvde Syndrome is indeed one of my all-time favorites though. I laughed so hard, and poor Connor was so genuinely miserable. It was fantastic.

Again, so much more stuff I could mention here. She writes Connor so well. I really love it. I get drawn into the story and I so feel Connor’s pain, and his joy, by the time she’s done beating him with the angst stick. LOL! So great.

3. What is your favorite quote from any of her stories?

From Bloodlines:
“He waited. He heard her bedroom door click, and then he waited again. Round about now she would be finding the soft toy on her bed, a purple fluffy dinosaur. She'd be picking it up and reading the tag around its neck … Connor –saur loves Abby-saur. Then he held his breath. The bedroom door clicked again and Abby came back out to the balcony. She flung her arms around Connor and kissed him, he kissed her back, enjoying the warmth and softness of her lips. "Love you too, Connor-saur" she whispered”.

4. What, in your opinion, makes her a compelling writer?

She writes her characters with such feeling, such honesty. Whether it’s tragedy, comedy, smut, or just fluff, she puts in exactly what is necessary to convey the tone and feeling of each fic. (I almost hate to recommend it, because I don’t want to encourage her, but her tragic fics are freaking awesome, not in terms of the story, ‘cause I hate it when she kills off a main character, but in terms of how amazingly they are written. You literally feel like you’ve been punched in the gut. (DEPRESSED!))  However, just as equal are her smut pieces and her fluff pieces, so much warmth and hotness, and love. I adore it and I can’t wait for her to write more.

5. Why should she keep writing fanfic?

Ummm…. SHE’S AMAZING! She’s one of the four authors I credit with getting me to write fan fiction (the others being [livejournal.com profile] wilemina_29[livejournal.com profile] evenstar_estel, and [livejournal.com profile] alyse). I could not help but be completely wrapped up in her work from the moment I clicked open the page. She so needs to keep writing, because I need to keep reading, and I’m sure lots of others do to. Her ability to capture her characters is brilliant. She writes them all well, including Danny, Becker and, my favorite ‘other’ character, Helen. She even writes Abby/Lester in a believable fashion. LOL!

BONUS: I’m adding a bonus question because I just thought of it.

What is your guilty pleasure fic from Prehistoriccat?

The three stories I would absolutely never tell my non-fan -fiction friends that I read (over and over) are Punishment (first), The Secret Package (second) and The Blog (third). Great stories. Hot, hot, hot!

I found this at CafePress after following a link on the side of my page.  I was cracking up with silent giggles and I figure y'all would appreciate these items.

Click here for stuff that only ficcers can really appreciate.

There are other ones that don't come up on the initial page, but do if you click on some of the individual items.  So much LOL and WIN!
